Quick Overview

The Lime tree is the best tree for counteracting pollution.
Grows to 70 ft (22m). It is native to Limestone soils in England and Wales. It's Flowers are a favourite with bees. Its wood is ideal for carving and is still used as sounding boards and keys of pianos and organs.
Tree supplied is 20-40cm tall.

  • Lime trees are native to Limestone soils in England and Wales.
  • The Lime tree does not produce the strong sucker growth around the base of the trunk, often associated with the Large Leaved Lime (Tilia platyphylos).
  • Flowers from mature Lime trees attract bees in early July.
  • Lime leaves are alternate and 1-3in long they are dark green and shiny on top with orange tufts of hair in vein junctions on the undersides.
  • The timber is ideal for carving and turning.
  • Lime tree wood is still used for sounding boards and keys of pianos and organs.
