The Hawthorn Tree is said to represent true love, partnership and commitment, and the ancient Celts refered to the Hawthorn tree as "The Marriage Tree".
Wands made from Hawthorn wood were thought to be very powerful and were often used in spells for love and marriage. The blossoms are also reputed to be highly erotic to men.
Hawthorn Trees have been associated with May Day celebrations for centuries and have also been known as the ’May Tree’ or the ’Tree of Fertility’.
Hawthorn trees are an ancient symbol of protection, often planted around homes and churches to form a protective shield from evil. Any site which grows both Hawthorn trees and Blackthorn trees is thought to be an enchanted area.
It was also a common practice in rural areas to attach spriggs of Hawthorn to the cradles of newborn babies to protect against illness and evil spirits.
Hawthorn berries are still used to make jelly and wine. Hawthorn trees also make great hedges.

- The Hawthorne tree is native throughout the British Isles, it can grow to around 45ft(14m) if left untrimmed.
- Hawthorn trees are also known as Quickthorn, Quick, or Maythorn it is the commonest hedgerow plant, forming a dense inpenetrable hedge.
- Hawthorn trees white flowers appear from May onwards with the characteristic red berries, known as Haws providing feed for birds in autumn and early winter.

Once you buy a tree2mydoor gift, you can include a greetings card along with your own personal message. You can select a target delivery date when you place an order. We will normally dispatch your order one day before your target delivery date. (Monday to Thursday). Orders over £50 qualify for free delivery.
Delivery options
This product can be delivered by 1st Class Royal Mail postage (standard) or by next day courier service (premium). Deliveries are undertaken between Tuesday and Saturday each week. Saturday deliveries incur an extra surcharge.
