More about Hazel Tree Gift
The Hazel tree or ’Tree of Knowledge’, The Celts associated Hazel Trees with wisdom and inspiration and it was thought that new skills and knowledge could be gained by eating Hazelnuts. Hazelnuts were often presented to those facing a particularly tough challenge. During weddings it was a tradition for children to present the bride with a bag of Hazelnuts in order to bless her with good fortune.
Today Hazelnuts are enjoyed at Christmas time and are quite a delicacy for the local wildlife. It’s also a tradition for children to shake Hazel trees near Halloween and collect the falling nuts.
Hazel Trees can grow to around 20ft (6m) and will make a strong, dense hedge if cut and laid.
Hazel tree supplied is 20cm-60cm tall.
- The Hazel tree is native throughout the British Isles.
