Zoo visit wedding gift for ex-mayor - 28/09/09
London Zoo has hosted a high-profile wedding after former London Mayor Ken Livingstone married long-term lover Emma Beal.
Mr Livingstone had decided to host his Saturday morning LBC show on the day, despite the impending date, explaining to his listeners that he wanted to "get out the way" of preparations.
Friends and family celebrated and handed over wedding gifts to the couple, who have two children together, following the ceremony at the zoo's Mappin Pavilion.
Mr Livingston, who also told listeners that he chose to come into work to avoid winding everybody at home up before the ceremony, explained that he had chosen the zoo as a venue so there would be something for children to do.
He added that it was a "small, family wedding" and replied "I hope he's not related to me!" when he was asked if Boris Johnson, who beat him in last year's mayoral election, would be among the guests.
