Veteran golfer swings her way to 100 - 26/02/09
A 99-year-old golfer is due to celebrate her 100th birthday in March but is still out on the greens striving to improve her putting skills.
Clare Hall is the country's oldest known woman player but insists that age is no handicap while out on the green and still manages to play 18 holes twice a week.
Although an electric buggy helps Mrs Hall get from hole to hole at the tree-lined Cirencester Golf Club in Gloucestershire, she puts her stamina down to the "exercise, fresh air and friendship".
The club is hosting a special celebration for the veteran golfer who picked up a club at the age of 22 and has been golfing ever since.
A broken shoulder has put Mrs Hall out of action but she said she is keen to get back out on the course.
Mrs Hall said: "I love it - I'm still very keen to put in a good score.
"Once you get onto Cirencester golf course you're miles from anywhere, on top of the world, with lovely views."
While out on the green its gives Mrs Hall, who is an evergreen enthusiast and has been watering the plants in the clubhouse since the 1960s, time to take in the variety of wild flowers and trees lining the green.
