Soldier gets wedding gifts on leave - 05/11/09
Corporal David Leen received his wedding gifts on leave from duty in Afghanistan; a ceremony he planned over two years in advance.
Cpl Leen obtained leave for three weeks to get married to Rebecca, a nurse at a hospital in King's Lynn.
The soldier met Rebecca, 24, during a night out five years ago and planned the wedding two-and-a-half-years ago.
The couple tied the knot in a small church in Swanton Morley, Norfolk on July 25.
Rather than a full honeymoon, Cpl Leen wanted to spent a few days in London with Rebecca and her five-year-old daughter Amelia, before he was to resume duty.
Cpl Leen, of the Light Dragoons, is due to return home this week after more than six months in Afghanistan.
The 24-year-old soldier said: "I'm looking forward to going home now because we haven't seen each other.
"It's been a long time coming. She's just moved into the quarters without me. It probably feels like her house and not ours."
The corporal from Hemlington in Middlesbrough, has served two tours of Iraq, and this was his second in Helmand.
