Pegg awaits baby gifts for daughter - 08/07/09

Shaun Of The Dead star Simon Pegg will be expecting plenty of guests bearing baby gifts after his wife gave birth to a girl.

A spokesperson for Pegg told Usmagazine.com that the Star Trek actor and wife Maureen McCann had welcomed the new arrival in Los Angeles.

The LA-based British star had previously expressed his happiness that his baby would enjoy dual nationality.

He said: "It struck me that, technically, he or she could eventually become President of the United States. The potential is there!"

Pegg and his wife have been married since 2005, and the actor is already godfather to Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay's Chris Martin's daughter Apple.

No announcement has been made on the name of the new arrival.

The 39-year-old father had previously expressed his excitement about becoming a father and a role model, saying it was "the most important" thing to him.
