Nicole Richie awaits wedding gifts - 17/02/10

Nicole Richie can expect wedding gifts soon, after the socialite revealed her engagement to her partner of three years Joel Madden.

Nicole told The Late Show With David Letterman that Joel had proposed to her recently, hinting at Valentine's Day.

She sported an engagement ring and thrilled, a source who saw her at Abe & Arthur's restaurant said.

The couple have two children, daughter Harlow, two, and five-month-old son Sparrow.

Richie is the adopted daughter of soul singer Lionel Richie and best known for her role opposite close friend Paris Hilton in the reality series The Simple Life.

She was previously engaged to Adam Goldstein, or DJ AM, who died of an accidental drug overdose last year.

Joel, the lead singer of Good Charlotte, dated singer and actress Hilary Duff for two years.
