Katy Perry awaits engagement gifts - 11/01/10

American singer Katy Perry is unlikely to receive any engagement gifts that exceed the value of the ring bought by her fianc? Russell Brand.

Russell, 34, bought the two-carat diamond embedded in a thick gold band, from Cartier for £30,000 a few weeks before popping to the question to the pop princess.

Katy, 25, showed off the ring as she accompanied her beau to breakfast at a north London caf? close to Russell's home.

A friend of Katy said: "Katy adored it and more so because Russell picked it himself."

Russell and Katy later travelled to the US to meet Katy's family in California.
