Cerys to be showered with baby gifts - 18/08/09

Former Catatonia star Cerys Matthews has broken the silence on her big secret - she is expecting her third baby at the age of 40.

The Welsh singer, famous for hits Road Rage and Mulder and Scully, has revealed that she and long-term manager Steve Abbott, 49, waited four months before finally enlightening family and friends.

Once given the all-clear by doctors on the unborn baby's health, the pair could not contain their excitement about their baby gift and admitted to being "absolutely over the moon".

The couple broke the news to close friends and family last weekend.

A friend told Wales on Sunday: "Cerys and Steve are both absolutely over the moon. They know that it will mean a lot of sleepless nights next year, but they couldn't be happier at the news.

"You couldn't wish for two better parents and the baby is certainly going to have very talented genes. It's been a great year for Cerys - her career has gone from strength to strength and she has been so busy. But this news just tops it all."
