Beckhams' surprise birthday gift - 02/07/09

There could not have been a better birthday gift for Sandra Beckham than the surprise visit of her busy football star son David and his family as she celebrated turning 60.

Beckham, his wife Victoria and their three sons made a stealthy entrance through the kitchens of a restaurant near Chelmsford, in Essex, where Sandra was having dinner with family and friends.

A source told the Sunday Mirror: "They crept in through the back so they could surprise the birthday girl. There were gasps of delight when they walked in with a lots of hugs and kisses."

The couple and Brooklyn, 10, Romeo, six and Cruz, four, joined other guests at the Blue Bridge restaurant in Writtle for the celebration.

They sat down and enjoyed the £20-a-head meal after which David made a touching speech.

"It was just like any other family birthday party. Their children were running around with all the other kids," the source added.

The next day football star drove Brooklyn to an Epping flower shop so that he could buy a bright-yellow bouquet for his grandmother.
