Becker 'thankful' for baby gift - 12/02/10

Boris Becker's wife Sharlely has given birth to their son.

Baby gifts were on their way to the former Wimbledon champion's London home after the couple made the announcement.

Amadeus Benedict Edley Luis, Becker's fourth child, arrived at a private London hospital on Wednesday, weighing in at 7lb 7oz.

A spokeswoman said: "Sharlely and Boris Becker are delighted to announce the birth of their son Amadeus Benedict Edley Luis."

The baby is Becker's first child with his 33-year-old wife. He has a two sons - Noah, 16, and Elias, 10 - with ex-wife Barbara, and a nine-year-old daughter, Anna, from his relationship with Angela Ermakova.

The former tennis star said: "Sharlely gave me the most wonderful present. We are overwhelmed and looking forward to a life with our son and brother to Noah, Elias and Anna.

"We are endlessly thankful to add a new member to our family. We want to thank everybody who is thinking of us and sharing our happiness.

"I also want to thank Dr (Joseph) Iskaros and his colleagues in the Portland Hospital for their fantastic job and loving care."
