Baby gifts for SJP and Matthew - 24/06/09

Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker and husband Matthew Broderick have become parents to twin girls, delivered by a surrogate mother.

Friends and family of the couple will be searching for the perfect baby gifts for Marion Loretta Elwell, who was born 5lbs 11oz, and Tabitha Hodge, who weighed in at 6lbs.

The acting duo announced in April that they were expecting twin daughters through a surrogate. Since then the mother has received an influx of press attention and Sarah became concerned for her safety after her phone was bugged and friends followed.

The couple's publicist Simon Halls said the girls were born on May 22 at a hospital in Ohio. The pair had failed to conceive since Sarah gave birth to their son James Wilkie who is now six.

The 44-year-old is commonly referred to as SJP and is best known for her role as Carrie Bradshaw in the long-running TV comedy drama and its big screen spin-off, which was released last year.

Her 47-year-old husband and fellow actor's main credits are the Broadway and film productions of The Producers, and the comic movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
