Baby gifts for champion cyclist Lance - 05/06/09

Friends and family of top American cyclist Lance Armstrong will be shopping around for some special baby gifts after the seven-times Tour de France winner announced the birth of his son.

Breaking the news on the social-networking site Twitter, Lance posted a picture of the newborn, along with the caption: "Wassup, world? My name is Max Armstrong and I just arrived. My Mommy is healthy and so am I!"

Lance and his girlfriend, Anna Hansen, announced last December that they were due to have a baby in June. Max is the fourth child for Lance, who has three other children with his ex-wife, Kristin.

More than a decade ago the cyclist was diagnosed with testicular cancer, but he overcame the disease and went on to win the Tour de France for seven consecutive years, from 1999 to 2005.

He retired from competitive cycling after the seventh win, but last September announced that he was returning to the sport in a bid to raise global awareness in his fight against cancer.
