Charles renews environmental crusade - 05/05/09
An online campaign against tropical deforestation is being launched by the Prince of Wales as he renews his crusade for the environment.
Charles is hoping that by promoting the importance of taking an ethical approach to managing natural resources he can help improve public understanding of deforestation's effect on the climate.
The Prince will be launching the campaign at a reception at the National Geographic Store in central London.
Charles has been speaking on environmental issues for more than two decades and last week spent four days campaigning in Europe, where he told dignitaries in Rome, Venice and Berlin of his fears over climate change.
He believes that clamping down on deforestation is vital in combating climate change and established his Prince's Rainforest Project in 2007 in a bid to make the vital eco-systems "worth more alive than dead".
Last month he visited the Amazon - the world's biggest rainforest - where the region's government awarded him the "friend of the forest" title for his work campaigning on sustainability issues.
