Charles plans climate change event - 21/05/09
The Prince of Wales is once again demonstrating his ethical credentials after announcing plans to stage an open-air environmental extravaganza.
It is hoped that the green event will take place next year as Charles continues in his attempts to tackle climate change - something he has described as the greatest challenge facing man.
According to London's Evening Standard newspaper, the festival is designed to rival Prince Albert's Great Exhibition of 1851 and could be held in the same venue, Hyde Park.
An insider was quoted by the newspaper as saying the event would be a "great green festival" featuring farmers' markets.
"There is a proposal to hold an outdoor event which will focus on environmental issues and sustainability," a spokeswoman for Clarence House said.
"It's being considered for 2010. It's all in the very early stages."
Charles's charity The Prince Trust has previously raised money through the Party in the Park pop concerts in Hyde Park, which was also the venue for London's Live 8 event.
